The phone, named S61, can detect the presence of VOCs (Volatile organic compound) in the air, which are emitted from paints, solvents, carpets, furniture and cleaning materials. Studies have shown that they cause significant health damage.
The phone is equipped with a sensor, designed by the Swiss company Sensirion, which can smell particulate matter in the atmosphere, then alert users to pollutants and help them make the right decisions at the right time. The phone may advice you to open a window to improve ventilation or take a break.
The phone has an integrated thermal imaging camera that uses infrared light, allows you to see warm places through smoke or dark, reads temperatures, helps users to detect atmospheric humidity, and enables them to determine how hot the electrical devices and circuits are.
In addition, the S61 can measure distance of laser beam by firing a laser pulse to reach a target from which the pulse is reflected to the receiver. Special circuits calculate the time from the moment of release until the pulse returns to the target.
The device has a large 5.2 “(13 cm) high-resolution screen protected by a Gorilla Glass 5 layer, a scratch-resistant glass.
The S61 phone is priced at $999 and will be available for orders from the company and retailers around the world in the next few months.
